UHS Introduces Modernized MBBS and BDS Curricula




The University of Health Sciences UHS has officially unveiled the completed MBBS Modular Integrated Curriculum 2K23 and the updated BDS Integrated Curriculum 2K25. These curricula will be implemented across all public and private medical and dental colleges throughout Punjab. Approval and Formal Launch

The new curricula were approved in a joint session by the UHS Syndicate along with the Boards of Studies for Medicine and Dentistry. UHS Registrar Kiran Fatima presented the formal resolution, which received signatures from the board conveners, the syndicate chairman, and the provincial minister, making the approval official.

Launch Ceremony at UHS Lahore

Punjab’s Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Minister, Khawaja Salman Rafique, attended the launch event at UHS Lahore as the chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by senior academicians, college principals, and members of statutory bodies. The minister formally launched both curricula by publishing them on the UHS website, making them accessible for students and faculty.

Enhancing Medical Education Through Clerkship-Based Model

UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore highlighted that the Punjab government fully supports these curriculum reforms. He emphasized that the new clerkship-based approach would enhance the quality of medical education, ensuring better clinical training and practical experience for students.

Collaborative Development and Faculty Involvement

UHS Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nadia Naseem noted that the MBBS Curriculum 2K23 was developed over three years, with contributions from nearly 700 faculty members, reflecting a comprehensive and collaborative effort.

Alignment with Standards and Focus on Integrated Learning

According to UHS officials, the revised MBBS and BDS curricula are designed to meet national regulatory requirements while aligning with international standards. They prioritize integrated learning, increased clinical exposure, professionalism, and practical skills, preparing students to meet modern healthcare challenges effectively.
