HEC Plans Blockchain System for Degree Attestation

HEC Plans Blockchain System for Degree Attestation

Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is preparing to introduce the initial phase of a new blockchain-based degree attestation system by June 2026. This initiative aims to modernize the existing attestation procedure by making it more secure, efficient, and accessible through an online platform. The students can get the latest information of HEC Plans Blockchain System for Degree Attestation.

Digital Platform to Modernize Academic Verification Process

According to official information, the commission is developing this digital system to enhance transparency and improve the overall management of attestation and equivalence services provided to students and graduates. By adopting advanced blockchain technology, the HEC intends to strengthen the reliability of academic verification while also improving the quality and speed of service delivery.

The proposed platform will link the academic databases of universities and other Higher Education Institutions across the country. Through this centralized digital framework, academic records will be securely connected and stored, enabling quicker and more reliable verification of degrees and transcripts. One of the key advantages of this system is that it will simplify the verification process and significantly reduce the need for applicants to visit universities or institutions in person to authenticate their documents.

Under the new arrangement, universities and higher education institutions will be provided with dedicated online dashboards. Through these dashboards, institutional officials will be able to review, confirm, and validate the academic records submitted by applicants. Once the verification process is completed by the respective university, the application will automatically be transferred to the HEC for the next stage of processing and final attestation.

After the commission completes its review and confirms the authenticity of the documents, the verified academic records will be stored on the blockchain as secure digital credentials. Students and graduates will then be able to access these records online whenever needed. They will also have the option to share their verified digital credentials with employers, educational institutions, or other organizations that require confirmation of their qualifications.

Officials believe that the introduction of blockchain technology will significantly reduce the chances of document forgery, fraudulent credentials, and lengthy verification delays. By maintaining records on a secure digital ledger, the integrity and authenticity of academic documents can be preserved more effectively.

The commission expects to roll out the first phase of this innovative system by June 30, 2026. This step is part of a broader effort by the HEC to digitize higher education services and strengthen the management and verification of academic credentials across the country.
