WMAA Official Directive on Academic Standards & Course 2026

Wifaq-ul-Madaris al-Arabia Pakistan has issued a critical communication to the administrators of religious educational institutions, particularly those in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regarding the preservation of the standardized eight-year curriculum of WMAA. The central leadership emphasizes that the traditional academic timeline—where subjects are taught thoroughly from the months of Shawwal to Rajab—is essential for developing true scholarly competence. Concerns have been raised regarding certain institutions in districts like Peshawar, Mardan, and Swat that are attempting to compress the 7th-grade Mauquf Alaih syllabus into a few months under the label of "Daurah Sughra". This practice allows students to bypass essential learning periods, often merging the 6th and 7th years of study into one, which undermines the quality of education and violates the foundational rules of the federation.

 

 

The central office highlights several academic and administrative risks associated with these shortened "Daurah Sughra" courses:

 

Academic Deficiency: Vital and complex texts, including volumes of *Hidaya* and *Tafsir al-Baydawi*, cannot be mastered in just two or three months.

 

Student Impact: Students participating in these accelerated programs often fail to complete their 6th-grade requirements, leading to poor exam performance and a lack of readiness for the final *Daurah-e-Hadith* year.

 

Regulatory Action: Institutions persisting in these unauthorized practices face the potential cancellation of their official affiliation with Wifaq-ul-Madaris.

 

Admission Restrictions: Madaris are strictly instructed to grant WMAA Daurah-e-Hadith admission only to students who have successfully passed the standard 7th-grade Exams conducted by the board.

 

The leadership, including President Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani and General Secretary Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalandhari, urges all affiliates to remain committed to the established regulations to ensure the long-term stability and credibility of the Islamic educational system.
