Sindh to Open Six New Divisional Science Learning Centers in 2026

The Sindh government has unveiled plans to set up six state-of-the-art science education centers at the divisional level and implement a structured annual calendar for observation-based study visits for public school students. The students can get the latest updates of Sindh to Launch Six Advanced Science Learning Centers.

Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah explained that the program aims to enhance science education by going beyond traditional textbook learning, offering students practical, hands-on experiences that foster curiosity and understanding. He noted that the government’s efforts to promote science education across the province are already underway. The organization of successful STEAM competitions marked the initial phase, while the upcoming science centers and structured study visits will represent the next step in this initiative.

As part of this effort, the minister visited Pakistan’s first interactive science museum, the Magnifi Science Center in Karachi, established by The Dawood Foundation. During his visit, he was welcomed by CEO Fawad Soomro and toured the facility, observing its various interactive sections. The briefing highlighted that the Magnifi Science Center is the country’s first modern, interactive science facility, designed to teach scientific concepts through engaging, practical experiences.

Minister Shah emphasized that observation-based study visits are crucial for connecting public school students with science. He stated that textbook learning alone is no longer sufficient in today’s educational landscape and must be complemented by experiential, hands-on activities. Students should be given opportunities to observe, explore, and actively engage with scientific ideas.

The Sindh government and The Dawood Foundation are also finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding expected by the end of February. This agreement will establish a formal framework and an annual calendar to facilitate free study visits for public school students to the Magnifi Science Center. The calendar will also include visits to heritage sites, cultural centers, and other national landmarks throughout Sindh.

The Sindh cabinet has already approved funding for the initiative, allocating Rs. 30 million for the current fiscal year and up to Rs. 60 million for the following year. A formal annual payment mechanism will be established to ensure smooth student participation.

Minister Shah stated that the initiative will provide students with practical learning opportunities, fostering scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity among public school learners across the province.
