The federal authorities have issued a formal directive requiring all private schools and colleges in Islamabad to enroll their students from Class 9 and above in compulsory digital safety and artificial intelligence courses. This decision marks a significant step toward strengthening digital awareness among young learners and preparing them for the evolving demands of a technology-driven world. Federal Govt Introduces Mandatory Technology Awareness Program for Senior Students in Islamabad

The initiative has been launched by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training with the objective of equipping students with practical knowledge of modern artificial intelligence systems and cybersecurity fundamentals. As education and professional environments increasingly rely on digital tools, the government aims to ensure that students develop a solid understanding of online safety, responsible technology use, and emerging AI applications. By integrating these subjects into the learning pathway, policymakers intend to build a generation that is both digitally skilled and security conscious.

According to the official instructions released through ICT-PEIRA, all eligible students within the Islamabad Capital Territory must have their accounts created and activated on the designated government skills portal no later than March 8, 2026. This registration process is mandatory and must be completed promptly to ensure compliance with the new regulations. The activation of training accounts is considered the first essential step in implementing the program across private educational institutions.

Although the enrollment and account setup must be handled without delay, the ministry has allowed flexibility regarding the completion of coursework. Students are not required to finish the modules immediately. Instead, they have been granted the option to complete the digital safety and AI training during their summer break or after their annual Exams conclude. This arrangement has been carefully planned to prevent disruption to the regular academic calendar while still ensuring that students receive the necessary digital education.

The timing of the coursework reflects a balanced strategy. Authorities recognize the importance of maintaining focus on core academic subjects during the school term, while also acknowledging the urgent need to improve digital competence nationwide. By scheduling the training during less academically demanding periods, the government aims to achieve both objectives effectively.

Private school and college administrations have been instructed to cooperate fully with this directive. They are expected to take immediate steps to register all eligible students and oversee the activation of their accounts on the official portal. Educational institutions are also responsible for guiding students and ensuring that participation in the program becomes universal among learners from the ninth grade onward.

This move demonstrates a broader national effort to enhance digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness among youth. By mandating structured training in these areas, the government seeks to foster a secure and technologically capable student population ready to navigate the challenges of a digital future.
