Punjab to Launch Teaching License System Inspired by Sindh

The Punjab government is working on introducing a teaching license system similar to the one implemented in Sindh. To learn from Sindh’s experience, a delegation from the Punjab Education Department met Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah in Karachi, discussing policies, challenges, and strategies related to teacher licensing. The students can check the fresh updates of Punjab Plans to Launch Teaching License System Inspired by Sindh.

Professional Recognition and Accountability for Teachers

During the meeting, Punjab’s Shakil Ahmed praised Sindh for pioneering the teaching license framework, calling it a progressive step toward enhancing teachers’ dignity and accountability. He highlighted that such a system would eventually enable licensed teachers to gain professional recognition and work anywhere across Pakistan.

Sindh Highlights Challenges and Progress

Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah welcomed Punjab’s interest and stressed the need for stronger interprovincial collaboration. He noted that one of the biggest challenges remains the high number of out-of-school children. Shah shared that Sindh has already initiated a non-formal education program through public-private partnerships to address this issue.

Non-Formal Education Centers Established in Sindh

Under the program, Sindh has set up 3,000 educational centers with the goal of enrolling nearly one million out-of-school children within 30 months. This effort reflects Sindh’s commitment to expanding access to education and integrating marginalized children into the formal schooling system.

Joint Coordination and Future Collaboration

Both Punjab and Sindh agreed to establish a coordination group for regular consultations and policy exchange. The meeting concluded with the exchange of cultural gifts, symbolizing goodwill and a shared vision for improving the education sector nationwide.
