Punjab to Dismiss Teachers Over Unsatisfactory Matric Results
The Punjab Education Department has directed the compilation of lists of schools and teachers showing poor performance in 9th and 10th-grade examinations. Strict Measures Announced by Education Minister
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced on Thursday, via a social media statement, that for the first time, the School Education Department is preparing detailed reports on institutions and teachers producing low matriculation results. Teachers failing to meet performance standards will face dismissal.
No Tolerance for Poor Academic Outcomes
The minister stressed that despite spending billions of rupees on the education sector, substandard results are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The government aims to hold schools accountable to ensure quality education.
Accountability at District and Tehsil Levels
Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized that schools within his district and tehsil will face strict accountability measures. He stated that responsibility will be fixed at every level to raise academic performance.
Recognition for High-Performing Teachers
In addition to punitive measures, the minister revealed that a separate list of teachers achieving exceptional results is also being prepared. Such teachers will be rewarded to encourage dedication and excellence in the education sector.
