KP Govt Allocates Rs 364B for Education Reforms in 2025 2026

KP Govt Allocates Rs 364B for Education Reforms in 2025 2026

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced an ambitious education reform strategy with a record allocation of Rs. 364 billion in the 2025–26 budget, focusing on improving access, infrastructure, and technology integration in schools across the province.

In a policy briefing, Education Minister Faisal Tarakai confirmed that over 1,500 government schools will be transitioned to the private sector through a public-private partnership PPP model. Alongside this, the establishment of 200 new schools under the Elementary Education Foundation EEF will expand learning opportunities for underserved communities.

Recognizing the need for technological advancement, the government has earmarked Rs. 1.2 billion to develop smart classrooms, install computer labs, and enhance internet connectivity in high and higher secondary schools.

In merged districts, where infrastructure gaps persist, the government will construct 500 new classrooms for primary-level students. To reduce the financial burden on families, the education department will continue to provide free textbooks, school bags, and stationery, supported by the expanding education card program.

Furthermore, 29 new education projects are in the pipeline, along with dedicated funding for the renovation of 10 historic schools. A province-wide campaign to equip all public schools with complete furniture is expected to be completed by year-end.

Minister Tarakai also reported a 6% increase in teacher attendance, attributing the improvement to enhanced digital monitoring tools. Special initiatives to enroll out-of-school children will continue in rural and urban zones, reinforcing the province’s commitment to universal quality education.

With this forward-thinking budget, KP is taking a significant step toward building a modern, inclusive, and digitally-enabled education system for the next generation.
