Sindh’s education boards have announced plans to adopt an electronic marking system for matriculation exams starting in 2026. Two to Three Papers to Be Digitally Evaluated

Under the new system, two to three papers in the annual examinations of Classes 9 and 10 will be assessed through e-marking. This step aims to modernize the evaluation process and ensure accurate and timely results.

Federal Board Provides Software and Support

To facilitate this transition, the Federal Board has provided e-marking software to the Department of Universities and Boards. Sindh’s examination boards will use this technology for the assessment of answer scripts. The system will also be applied to intermediate-level exams, with two to three papers of the annual intermediate exams set to be evaluated digitally in 2026.

Officials Applaud Initiative for Transparency

Board officials have praised the move, highlighting that the Federal Board’s technical support and software provision are significant steps toward promoting transparency and fairness in exams. Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director of the Inter Board Coordination Committee IBCC Islamabad, stated that both exam administration and script evaluation will be conducted through IT-based e-marking systems.

Pilot Already Conducted in 2025

It is important to note that the transition is already underway. In 2025, the Mathematics paper for Classes 9 and 10 was marked using the e-marking system, serving as a pilot for the broader implementation planned for the coming year.
