General Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Admission Requirements – Non Engineering Programs
A prospective applicant, who applies for Non-Engineering Undergraduate program, they must have:

• The candidates must have Inter or equivalent (12 years) qualification with at least 45%-50% (Depends on Program) marks in Intermediate. 3rd division in 10th class is not acceptable.
• In case of O Level, A Level, American High School Diploma or any other equivalent foreign qualification, the candidates must have to produce an equivalence certificate issued by IBCC.
• In case of foreign diploma/transcript is in any language other than English or Urdu, the candidates must provide translated copy of the diploma/transcript.
• The translated copy must be verified by the degree awarding institution, respective foreign ministry or an authorized public notary.
• The candidates must obtain 50% passing marks in NAT/Admission Test and Interview for grant of admission.

Masters Program Admission Requirements

A prospective applicant, who applies for 16 Years equivalent Masters program, they must have:

• Candidates must have 14 Years qualification with 45% marks in case of annual system in degree awarding institution
• 14 Years qualification with 2.0/4.0 CGPA if the degree awarding institution has semester system
• If the candidate has equivalent foreign qualification, he must obtain equivalent certificate from Higher Education Commission.
• If the foreign degree / transcript is in any language other than English or Urdu, he must produce translated copy of the degree/transcript.
• The translated copy must be verified by the degree awarding institution, respective foreign ministry or an authorized public notary.
• The candidates must obtain 50% passing marks in NAT/Admission Test and Interview for grant of admission.

MS/M. Phil or 18 Years Program Admission Requirements

A prospective applicant, who applies for 16 Years equivalent Masters program, they must have:

• 16 Years of formal education with at least 2.50 CGPA
• Third division in entire academic career is not acceptable
• Pass any of the following with 50% marks:
• GRE / GAT / NTS (General); or
• UMT Graduate Admission Test; and
• Admission Interview by UMT Graduate Admission Committee
• The candidates must have at least 50% marks in previous degree in case of annual system or 2.50/4.0 CGPA in case of semester system in the degree awarding institution for admission in UMT MS/MPhil, LLM or MBA programs
• The candidates must fulfill at least criteria of HEC for grant of admission in MS/M.Phil program. The candidates must meet the specific eligibility criteria, if any, of the concerned department / school.
• If the candidates have equivalent foreign qualification, they must obtain an equivalent certificate issued by Higher Education Commission.
• The translated copy must be verified by the degree awarding institution, respective foreign ministry or an authorized public notary.
• The candidates must obtain 50% passing marks in NAT/Admission Test and Interview for grant of admission.

PhD Program Admission Requirements

The prospective applicants, who apply to a PhD program, they must have:

• Must have obtained minimum CGPA of 3.00 or first division in MS/M.Phil or Equivalent degree.
• Any third division in entire academic career is not acceptable.
• Must have completed minimum 24 credit hours of course work and 6 credit hours of research (thesis)
• Must have passed GRE / GAT (Subject) test with 60% marks or 60th percentile in case of GRE
• In any discipline, where this test is not provided, the test will be developed by university committee, which will be comprised of minimum 3 PhD faculty members in the respective subject in consultation with external experts and qualifying score for this test, will be 70%.
• Must have fulfilled minimum criteria of HEC for admission in PhD program. The candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria, if any, of concerned department / school.
• If the candidate has an equivalent foreign qualification, he must produce an equivalent certificate issued by Higher Education Commission.
• If the candidate has foreign degree/transcript in any language other than English or Urdu, he must produce translated copy of the degree/transcript.
• The translated copy must be verified by the degree awarding institution, respective foreign ministry or an authorized public notary.
