Sindh Launches Pilot Project to Offer Cambridge IGCSE in Public Schools




The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has revealed its plan to introduce the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education IGCSE program in selected government schools. This initiative, which will begin as a pilot project, is part of an enhanced partnership with Cambridge International aimed at raising academic standards within the public education sector. Government Expands Partnership to Bring International Curriculum to Students

By implementing the IGCSE curriculum, the department aims to provide students in government schools with access to internationally recognized learning s, preparing them more effectively for higher education and professional opportunities around the world.

The announcement came during the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards held in Karachi, where 317 students from across Pakistan were celebrated for their remarkable results in Cambridge examinations. Students from Sindh and Balochistan received 120 awards this year, including 26 for achieving top marks globally and 53 for earning the highest scores in their respective provinces. Across the country, 317 students collectively secured 355 awards, with 83 recognized for highest marks worldwide and 63 honored for national distinctions.

Speaking at the event as the chief guest, Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah congratulated all the achievers, noting that their success symbolizes a promising future for Pakistan. He stressed the importance of an education system that promotes creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning to meet the evolving demands of the modern world.

Representatives from Cambridge International, including Exams Director Amanda Ingram and Country Director Uzma Yousuf, also commended the students accomplishments and determination. They emphasized that strong academic foundations and consistent support from schools, teachers, and families enable learners to thrive in an increasingly dynamic and technology-driven environment.
