At a recent high-level session held at the School Education Department, Punjab Chief Minister was briefed on the successful outsourcing of more than 11000 public schools across the punjab to private entities. The initiative is aimed at enhancing educational standards and ensuring better outcomes for students. Officials also reported a major milestone: the enrollment of 1.1 million previously out-of-school children through various outreach efforts led by the Punjab Education Foundation. This progress marks a significant leap forward in expanding access to quality education for underserved communities.

Major Overhaul in School Sector Under CM Leadership.

To accelerate improvements, the Chief Minister instructed School Management Councils to deploy Rs. 10 billion in allocated funds within a 90-day timeframe to upgrade school infrastructure. Additionally, she mandated the construction of new classrooms across all institutions within a year and called for urgent repairs to 580 critically damaged buildings and 2,770 unsafe school structures.

Highlighting the importance of modernizing the education system, Maryam Nawaz set a goal to train 500,000 students in spoken English using certified trainers. She further emphasized the need to scale up the school meal program, especially in districts and tehsils facing high levels of child malnutrition.

As part of long-term plans, the Chief Minister unveiled the establishment of Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence for boys and girls in every district. A five-year vision includes the upgrading of 1,750 schools, with 250 schools set for enhancement in the upcoming fiscal year. Moreover, 300 new Tech-Ed schools focused on technical education will be launched in 10 tehsils, reflecting the government’s broader commitment to educational reform.
