PU Orders to Vacate Hostels During Summer Holidays
Punjab University has issued a directive requiring all 27 student hostels to be emptied during the upcoming summer vacation, with closure dates set from June 6 to August 27. Hostel Access Restricted to Foreign Students and Special Cases Only
As per the new guidelines, only international students will be permitted to stay in hostels over the break. Final semester students who are actively working on their thesis projects must obtain official clearance from the university to remain on campus. Likewise, academic departments intending to carry on with educational or research-related activities during the vacation period must seek authorization if any of their students require accommodation.
Previously, students were often allowed to reside in the hostels over the summer at their own convenience. However, the updated policy aims to enforce a near-complete evacuation of hostel facilities—likely to allow for maintenance work and to enhance security measures.
Punjab University officials have asked students to adhere to the new instructions and arrange for alternative lodging during the summer holiday period.
