Punjab Launches Internship Program for Veterinary Graduates
The Punjab government has unveiled its first large-scale internship program for 1,000 veterinary graduates and paraveterinary staff, backed by an allocation of Rs. 600 million. Under the Chief Minister Internship Program, veterinary graduates will receive a stipend of Rs. 60,000 per month, while livestock assistants and paravets will earn Rs. 40,000 monthly. CM Introduces Initiative to Boost Livestock Sector
Graduates with a DVM degree recognized by the Higher Education Commission HEC are eligible to apply within their districts. Likewise, candidates who have completed the two-year LAD diploma may also apply. Applications can be submitted online via the official portal: www.jobs.punjab.gov.pk
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that the program will make veterinary services more accessible for livestock farmers, who will be able to receive treatment and guidance at their doorstep. She added that this initiative is not only meant to modernize Punjab’s livestock sector but also to provide young professionals with field exposure along with financial stability.
Maryam Nawaz highlighted the government’s vision to maximize Punjab’s livestock potential by enhancing milk and meat output, which could play a vital role in strengthening foreign exchange reserves. She reaffirmed her commitment by saying, “Punjab will emerge as a leading hub of livestock and dairy development. Our government will continue to stand with livestock farmers.”
Additionally, quotas have been assigned for Veterinary Assistants, Artificial Insemination Technicians, and Laboratory Assistants across all 36 districts of Punjab, ensuring wide participation in this landmark program.
