Centres of Excellence for Special Children Expanding Across Punjab

The chief minister acknowledged the efforts of the Special Education Department and noted her commitment to establishing Centres of Excellence for special children in every district. She specifically recognized Sania Ashiq for turning this vision into reality in a short period. CM shared that 28 districts now have completed Centres of Excellence, while Punjab currently hosts 303 institutions dedicated to special education. She also announced plans to rebuild all these institutions to improve facilities.

Support for Families and Accessible Services

CM emphasized that families of special children are exemplary and described their homes as “places of blessings.” She stressed that providing essential services such as education, healthcare, roads, cleanliness, and even food is the government’s responsibility. She highlighted that mothers of special children need not offer thanks, as supporting these families is a key duty of her administration.

School Meal Program and Safety Measures

The chief minister revealed that the government has launched a school meal program across Punjab. She expressed her hope that government teams would visit every household to identify children with special needs and ensure their enrollment in state-run institutions. Additionally, she announced that every special education school will now receive CCTV-monitored buses, with 60 buses already delivered to schools.

Empowering Special Children Through Support Programs

CM emphasized that providing a supportive environment enables special children to thrive without becoming a burden on their families. The government is currently distributing Himat Cards to 70,000–75,000 differently-abled individuals, and the program will now expand to include thousands of special children as well.
The program was officially launched with the chief minister ringing a bell, and she took photographs with the students to mark the occasion.
