Punjab HEC Offers Indigenous PhD Scholarships

Punjab Higher Education Commission PHEC is now accepting applications for the Indigenous PhD Scholarship IPHD. This scholarship opportunity is open to qualified candidates seeking to pursue a PhD in any public or private university chartered by the Government of Punjab. Various disciplines, including Science & Technology, Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Business & Management Sciences, are covered. Monthly Stipend Details

Punjab HEC will grant a monthly stipend of PKR 100,000 to selected PhD scholars in the field of Science and Technology, and PKR 50,000 per month for those in Arts and Social Sciences. The scholarship covers a duration of three years, and online applications must be submitted by January 28, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Punjab HEC Indigenous PhD Scholarship, candidates must meet specific criteria. This includes holding domicile from any district in Punjab, possessing an MS/MPhil degree from a foreign or local university with no 3rd division or grade D throughout their academic career, maintaining a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0, CGPA of 3.75 out of 5, or first division in MS/MPhil/Equivalent degree, and being a maximum of 40 years old 45 years for females on the closing date.

Scholarship Terms and Conditions

The scholarship is awarded for three years, and during this period, awardees are not allowed to take on any other employment. Successful candidates must seek admission to a public/private university in Punjab within nine months after receiving the scholarship letter. Additionally, applicants in the Science and Technology category need to submit a financial support letter from the industry, demonstrating a minimum financial support of Rs. 10,000 per month.

Ineligibility Criteria

Candidates already availing themselves of any other HEC/Government scholarship for PhD or those already pursuing a Ph.D. are not eligible to apply.

Financial Coverage

PHEC will provide financial support for 36 months, offering Rs. 50,000 per month all-inclusive for Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Business & Management Sciences, etc., and Rs. 100,000 per month all-inclusive for Sciences & Technology.
