The Pakistan Engineering Council PEC has announced a major initiative to empower 5,000 engineers through the Global Engineering Freelance Initiative. This program is designed to bridge the gap between traditional engineering roles and the growing remote work economy.
 

Empowering Digital Engineering Talent

In collaboration with Aspire Pakistan, the PEC aims to equip early-career professionals with the skills needed to secure international freelance projects. The initiative acknowledges the shift toward a digital-first global economy where technical expertise can be exported virtually.
 

Program Structure and Benefits

The initiative, scheduled to take place from April 13 to 17, 2026, offers a comprehensive training modules:
  • Portfolio Building: Guidance on creating a professional presence on platforms like Upwork and LinkedIn.
  • AI-Enabled Profiling: Using artificial intelligence to assess technical skills and match engineers with suitable freelance pathways.
  • Platform Navigation: Practical strategies for bidding and winning international engineering contracts.
  • 5,000 Seats: Open specifically to PEC registered engineers and fresh graduates.
 

Boosting Foreign Exchange Earnings

Chairman PEC, Engr. Waseem Nazir, emphasized that this initiative will not only create individual income opportunities but also contribute to Pakistans digital economy. By exporting engineering services, the country can generate much-needed foreign exchange.
 

How to Register

Interested engineers are encouraged to apply via the Smart PEC portal.
  • Eligibility: Must be a registered member of the Pakistan Engineering Council.
  • Deadline: Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis for the allocated 5,000 slots.
  • Mode: Fully online, ensuring accessibility for professionals across the country.
