PCTB Lahore Bans Class 7 Book for Printing Malala Picture

Lahore, Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board Lahore has taken the action against the book of ‘Social Studies’ of class 7 as this book was published without their permission. Police and other agencies have taken actions against Oxford University Press as it was the publisher of that book and it is located in Mini Market, Gulberg and they have taken the entire stock of the book in to their custody. During the raid of the law enforcement agencies, the officials showed that no-objection certificate has not been issued for this book. This book was submitted with PCTB for review in 2019 and it was not approved for publishing. The PCTB officials, police and other agencies visited this shop and they inquired about the book and they read out orders regarding confiscation of the book. The case is that the picture of Nobel Laureate, Malala Yousafzai was published with the pictures of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, who was the hero of 1965 war and there were pictures of some other personalities.

On the page 33 of this book, there are pictures of some other well-renowned personalities like Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Liaqat Ali Khan, Abdul Sattar Edhi, Begun Raana Liaqat Ali Khan, Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed and Malala Yousafzai. This event has triggered the criticism and the questions were raised on the efforts of government for preparing uniform syllabus, when this book was reached in the hands of parents. As this book was failed to get the NOC from PCTB Board and this book was published and spread illegally and now the authority is taking the measures to confiscate the whole stock of the book.
