Punishments for Government Officials and Exam Disruptions

Government employees involved in leaking exam papers will not only face legal penalties but will also be terminated from their positions. Additionally, the new rules introduce strict measures for exam centers, with actions under the Yeda Act for anyone caught bringing mobile phones into practical exams or causing disruptions during the examination process.

Rana Sikandar Hayat Leads Crackdown on Exam Fraud

Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, has been at the forefront of a year-long initiative to address exam malpractice. Reflecting on the initiative, he noted that the extent of corruption within the system was staggering. "When we targeted the ‘booty mafia,’ we were shocked by how deeply they had infiltrated the entire system," he stated.

Breaking the Syndicates and Tackling Cheating Gangs

Rana Sikandar shared details of the successful crackdown against cheating syndicates, revealing that seven independent gangs were dismantled. These groups were found to be operating with the support of a private school mafia, which included government employees, teachers, and exam boards.

Cracking Down on Corrupt Exam Center Staff

In addition to tackling organized cheating networks, the education department also targeted corrupt staff at exam centers. These private staff members were discovered charging students up to Rs. 10,000 for solving exam papers. Following months of investigative work, legal reforms were implemented, with the Lahore Board already enforcing these measures and other exam boards following suit.

Addressing Legal Gaps and Strengthening Enforcement

Rana Sikandar also pointed out that social media and digital platforms were commonly used to facilitate cheating, but existing legal loopholes had allowed many offenders to escape punishment. "Weve now closed those loopholes," he affirmed, stating that anyone caught cheating will now face immediate imprisonment with no option for bail.

Teacher Associations Applaud New Regulations

The tougher anti-cheating laws have been met with widespread approval from teacher associations, who see this as a crucial step towards maintaining academic integrity and ensuring a fair examination process.
