Artificial Intelligence is set to become an official subject in schools and colleges across Islamabad starting from the next academic session in April. The initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize education and equip students with future-ready skills. The students can get the detailed information regarding Artificial Intelligence Added to Curriculum in Islamabad’s Educational Institutions.

AI Education to Begin in Schools and Colleges from April

As stated by the National Curriculum Council, students studying in classes six to eight will have the option to select either Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence. Meanwhile, students from classes nine to twelve will be able to choose Artificial Intelligence as an elective subject alongside other academic options.

For younger learners, ranging from nursery to class five, Artificial Intelligence will be introduced as a non-credit subject, meaning students will study basic concepts without formal exams. This approach is designed to build early familiarity with technology in an age-appropriate way.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that the National Curriculum Council has finalized and officially approved a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence and Robotics curriculum for grades one through twelve. The curriculum was developed in collaboration with provincial authorities to ensure nationwide relevance and consistency.

The newly designed syllabus focuses on developing essential skills such as computational thinking, intelligent systems, robotics, ethical use of technology, and problem-solving abilities. These competencies aim to prepare students for technological advancements and evolving career paths.

Education officials further stated that while the curriculum will be implemented in Islamabad starting in April, individual provinces will have the authority to decide whether to adopt it. Additionally, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education FBISE will incorporate Artificial Intelligence into its exams system.
