ICCBS Increases Scholarships for KU Postgraduate Students
The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences ICCBS at the University of Karachi has announced a significant increase in monthly scholarships for postgraduate students. Under the new policy, PhD students will now receive Rs. 70,000 per month—up from Rs. 50,000—while MPhil students will get Rs. 30,000, an increase from the previous Rs. 20,000 stipend. This decision was formally approved during a faculty meeting chaired by ICCBS Director, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, held in the ICCBS Seminar Room on Tuesday.
Enhanced Financial Support for MPhil and PhD Students at ICCBS
As part of its ongoing commitment to academic excellence, ICCBS has already started accepting applications for its internationally recognized MPhil and PhD programs for the 2025 academic session. Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Raza Shah highlighted that ICCBS is one of the few institutions in Pakistan that provides monthly financial support to all of its postgraduate students. He emphasized that these student-centric policies, combined with advanced research infrastructure, are designed to inspire high-quality academic research.
A spokesperson for ICCBS announced that prospective applicants can download the 2025 Admission Prospectus and fee voucher from the following websites:

Applicants must pay a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 8,000 at any Bank Alfalah branch. The completed admission form, along with photocopies of academic credentials and the paid fee voucher, must be submitted to the ICCBS Academic Coordination Office between June 23 and July 07, 2025.
Selected candidates will be enrolled at either the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research PCMD or the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry. Programs are offered across a wide array of scientific disciplines, including:
- Organic, Analytical, Inorganic, Physical, Applied, and Textile Chemistry
- Bio-Organic Chemistry
- Pharmacology
- Molecular Medicine, with specialized fields such as:
- Molecular and Cellular Biology
- Molecular Genetics
- Molecular Pharmacology
- Neuropharmacology
- Pathophysiology
- Computational Drug Discovery
- Structural Biology
- Stem Cell Research
- Molecular Pathology
