How to Apply for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2026
The Hungarian Government has officially opened applications for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2026/27. This program welcomes international students from partner countries, including Pakistan, to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s, PhD, and Non-Degree programs at top universities across Hungary. Launched in 2013 and coordinated by the Tempus Public Foundation TPF under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the scholarship aims to strengthen international cooperation and promote Hungary’s higher education globally. Participating Universities and Programs
Over 30 Hungarian universities participate in this scheme, offering more than 800 English-taught programs in fields such as medicine, engineering, law, business, IT, and the arts. Students can apply for up to two programs, listed in order of preference. Available study modes include:
Full-Time Degree Programs:
- Bachelor’s 2–4 years, BA/BSc
- Master’s 1.5–2 years, MA/MSc
- One-Tier Master’s 5–6 years, e.g., Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Veterinary Science
- Doctoral Programs PhD, 2+2 years
Non-Degree Programs:
- Preparatory Courses in Hungarian 1 year
- Postgraduate Specialist Training 1–2 years, Certificate
- Partial Studies/Exchange Programs 5–10 months

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship, candidates must:
- Be a citizen of a partner country Pakistan included
- Be at least 18 years old by 31 August 2026
- Hold a relevant high school or university degree depending on the program
- Meet English or Hungarian language proficiency requirements
- Apply through their country’s designated Sending Partner
- Not hold Hungarian dual citizenship
- Current self-financed students in Hungary may reapply if recommended by their host university and maintain a strong academic record
Scholarship Benefits
Selected students receive full financial support, including:
- Tuition fee exemption
- Monthly stipend: HUF 43,700 for Bachelor’s/Master’s students, HUF 140,000–180,000 for PhD students
- Free dormitory accommodation or HUF 40,000/month housing allowance
- Comprehensive health insurance
- Travel reimbursement from home country to Hungary and back

Applicants need to submit:
- Online application form
- Educational certificates and transcripts
- Proof of language proficiency
- Passport or national ID copy
- Motivation letter
- Medical certificate after nomination
- Recommendation letters for PhD applicants
- Research proposal for Doctoral programs
- Portfolio for art applicants
Missing documents may be submitted later, by 1 August 2026.
Application Process
The application process is fully online and free:
- Check partner country eligibility and Sending Partner institution.
- Select up to two preferred study programs.
- Register on the official platform.
- Complete and upload required documents.
- Submit application to the Sending Partner before the local deadline.
- Await nomination, evaluation, and final selection by TPF and universities.
- Submit medical certificate and receive final admission from the host university.

- Deadline: 15 January 2026
- Nomination Results: March 2026
- Medical Certificate Submission: 15 April 2026
- Final Document Submission: 1 August 2026
- Studies Begin: September 2026
