HEC Launches Maktab Digital Portal to Track Academic Records

HEC Launches Maktab Digital Portal to Track Academic Records

Pakistan has rolled out the Maktab system, a digital platform designed to maintain detailed records of students’ academic journeys, including enrolment data, grades, transcripts, and awarded degrees, announced Federal Education Minister Wajiha Qamar on Monday. The students can get the latest updates that HEC Introduces ‘Maktab’ for Digital Tracking of Degrees and Academic Records.

New Digital Platform to Monitor Student Academic Progress
Developed under the Higher Education Commission HEC framework, the system will initially be implemented in 25 public universities, with plans to gradually extend it to all public universities nationwide. The platform is intended to enhance transparency, save administrative time, and provide a streamlined method for tracking students from admission through to graduation.

Minister Qamar highlighted that the portal will enable authorities to monitor every student’s academic record on a single platform. The system will incorporate artificial intelligence to ensure secure, efficient, and accurate management of academic data.

The initiative also strengthens accountability within universities and improves oversight over digital processes, including tender scrutiny. Students and parents will have the ability to file complaints directly via e-katcheries and digital portals, which is expected to enhance service delivery and institutional responsiveness.

In its first phase, the Maktab system will focus on BS program admissions, benefiting approximately 4,000 students, with plans to expand its coverage to other academic programs in subsequent phases.

In parallel, the Inter Board Coordination Commission IBCC has launched a 24-hour online system for equivalence and verification, simplifying the registration and recognition process for students coming from international boards.

Minister Qamar emphasized that both initiatives are part of a broader vision to modernize Pakistan’s education system, improve the quality of higher education, and enhance the country’s global educational reputation.
