HEC Approves New Four Year LLB Program
Higher Education Commission HEC of Pakistan recently hosted an intensive three-day session of the National Curriculum Review Committee for Law. The primary objective of the meeting was to examine and modernize the structure and content of the Bachelor of Laws LLB program in the country. Committee Endorses Revised Legal Education Structure
Presided over by Dr. Amjad Hussain, HEC’s Director General Curriculum, the meeting brought together prominent figures from the legal and academic fields. Participants included Hassan Raza Pasha from the Pakistan Bar Council, Barrister Usama Malik from the Directorate of Legal Education, and Dr. Aziz-ur-Rehman, Dean of the School of Law at Quaid-i-Azam University. Hidayatullah Kasi, HEC Deputy Director Curriculum, served as session secretary.
New Four-Year LLB Program Receives Approval
The committee granted formal approval to a redesigned four-year LLB program. This updated curriculum is intended to align Pakistan’s legal education with global standards while addressing national legal requirements and challenges.
Enhancing Legal Education Standards in Pakistan
According to HEC representatives, the new curriculum aims to raise the overall quality of legal education in the country and better prepare law graduates for entry into the legal profession, both domestically and internationally.
Next Steps Toward Implementation
With the committee’s endorsement secured, the proposed curriculum will now proceed through the necessary statutory approval stages. Once these are completed, the new program will be implemented at law schools and universities across Pakistan.
