The Federal Urdu University teachers association has officially initiated an indefinite academic strike and exams boycott, severely disrupting the educational calendar across Karachi campuses. Following a crucial joint session uniting faculty from the Abdul Haq and Gulshan-e-Iqbal branches, educators resolved to suspend all regular classes. Key demands center on vital financial restitution, including the full reimbursement of house ceiling dues, the immediate reversal of a recent 20 percent allowance deduction, and the prompt clearance of outstanding salaries and pensions for university employees. Additionally, the resolution highlights critical human resource and structural reforms:
Immediate convocation of the selection board based on vacancies advertised in 2022.
Implementation of hardship policy promotions for senior educators nearing retirement.
Full disbursement of pending dues owed to evening program part-time teachers.
Restoration of essential medical panels and salary leave encashment reimbursements.
A complete shift away from conditional departmental FUUAST Master Degree admissions 2026 toward a strict, merit-based admissions system.
The joint committee has firmly stated that regular academic operations will remain entirely suspended until the university administration fully accepts and implements these core demands.
