BISE Mirpurkhas Investigated Over Fake Certificates Scandal

BISE Mirpurkhas Investigated Over Fake Certificates Scandal

The Sindh government has officially ordered a high-level probe into the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education BISE Mirpurkhas following explosive allegations of a fake certificate racket. The scandal came to light after reports surfaced that hundreds, and potentially thousands, of fraudulent matriculation certificates were issued to individuals, including foreign nationals, over the last few years.

High Level Committee to Probe Forgery

In response to the growing public outcry, the Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards, Muhammad Ismail Rahu, has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the academic fraud. Preliminary reports suggest that a network of corrupt officials within the board worked in collusion with private schools to sell authentic-looking but illegal credentials.

Key Revelations of the Scandal

The investigation was triggered after a local school and internal whistleblowers alleged massive irregularities in the Mirpurkhas Board records.
  • Massive Scale: It is estimated that between 2,500 and 8,000 fake certificates were issued between 2021 and 2025.
  • Bribery Allegations: Officials reportedly charged anywhere from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 500,000 per certificate.
  • Grade Manipulation: The IT department is under scrutiny for allegedly altering the SSC results of failing students to show passing marks.
  • Foreign Nationals: Shockingly, the racket allegedly provided certificates to Afghan nationals to help them meet residency or job requirements.

Suspensions and Legal Action

To ensure a transparent inquiry, the provincial government has already taken strict administrative actions against high-ranking staff members.
  • Examination Controller Suspended: The Controller of Examinations, Anwar Aleem Khanzada, has been removed from his post pending the investigation.
  • IT Head Under Scrutiny: Revelations from the IT department suggest that grade manipulation was done through back-end access to the board’s database.
  • Private Schools Involved: At least four private educational institutions are currently being investigated for facilitating the fake degree racket.

Impact on Educational Integrity

This scandal has cast a shadow over the Sindh education system, raising serious questions about the verification process for government jobs and higher education admissions. The inquiry committee has been tasked with identifying every fraudulent entry and recommending criminal proceedings against those involved.

Advice for Students and Employers

While the probe continues, the BISE Mirpurkhas administration has been directed to halt the issuance of duplicate certificates until the records are verified.
  • Verification: Employers are urged to double-check matric certificates issued by the Mirpurkhas board during the 2021–2025 period.
  • Student Rights: Genuine students are advised to remain calm as the board plans to implement new security features to protect academic records from future tampering.
The provincial government has reiterated that no one involved in this education board corruption will be spared, as the goal is to restore the sanctity of the merit-based system in Sindh.
