Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Program Extended to Higher Secondary Level




The Benazir Taleemi Wazaif program has been expanded to include students from the higher secondary level. Starting from this year, students in classes 6 through 12 will also be eligible to receive a quarterly education stipend. The Benazir Income Support Program BISP Board has formally approved the inclusion of both first-year and second-year intermediate students in the Wasila Education Program. Stipend Details for Students

As part of the updated Benazir Taleemi Wazaif program, students in different education levels will receive quarterly stipends. The approved stipends are as follows:

  • For Girls:
    • Primary: PKR 2500
    • Secondary/Matric: PKR 3500
    • Higher Secondary/Intermediate: PKR 4500

  • For Boys:
    • Primary: PKR 2000
    • Secondary/Matric: PKR 3000
    • Higher Secondary/Intermediate: PKR 4000

In addition, matric students will receive a quarterly stipend of PKR 3000, and a graduation stipend of PKR 3000 will be awarded after completing primary education.

Eligibility Requirements for the Program

To be eligible for the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif program, children must be from families receiving benefits from the active BISP Kafalat program. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • For Primary Education: Children aged 4 to 12 years
  • For Secondary Education: Children aged 8 to 18 years
  • For Higher Secondary Education: Children aged 13 to 22 years

Enrollment Process for Students

Students who wish to enroll in the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif program must be admitted to a school or college anywhere in Pakistan. The following documents are required for enrollment:

  • CNIC of the beneficiary
  • B-form/CRC issued by NADRA
  • School/College admission slip with class and school/college details, verified by a teacher

Enrollment verification of the B-form/CRC through the NADRA database is mandatory.

Enrollment Statistics and Financial Disbursements

Since its inception, the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif program has enrolled a total of 12.01 million children. The enrollment breakdown by education level is as follows:

  • Primary Level: 9,306,324 children 4,853,113 boys and 4,453,211 girls
  • Secondary Level: 2,406,859 children 1,323,955 boys and 1,082,904 girls
  • Higher Secondary Level: 297,661 children 156,851 boys and 140,810 girls
  • Total Enrollment: 12,010,844 children

To date, the BISP has disbursed a total of PKR 63.34 billion under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Scholarship Program. The expansion of the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif program is a significant step in promoting education and ensuring financial support for deserving students across Pakistan. Through this initiative, the government aims to encourage regular school attendance and provide essential educational opportunities for students from low-income families.
