The Army Public College APC Chinar Campus, Murree was established as a boarding institution under the supervision of 12 Div to provide quality education to wards of Army personals at affordable cost. Initially, school had only two wings Junior (1-6) and Senior (7-10). In 1997, school was graded to high secondary level by the then GOC 12 Div Maj Gen Abdul Qadir Baloch. In 1999, Pre school classes were inaugurated by Begum Gen Waseem Akhter. In 2005, the College came under Army Public Schools & Colleges Secretariate APSACS Sectt. For all educational matters, however it remained under Headquarter 12 Div for all administrative affairs.

The Army Public College APC, Chinar Campus, Murree Grants admissions to qualifying candidates in Junior School (Class I-III), Middle School (Class IV-VIII) and Senior School (Class IX-XII). The APC is affiliated with Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education FBISE, Islamabad.
