UoK Introduces Bachelor Program in Artificial Intelligence

University of Karachi UOK has announced its intention to introduce a four-year Bachelors degree program in Artificial Intelligence AI, which will be offered through the Department of Computer Science. The proposal for the new program is set to be discussed and approved at the upcoming Academic Council meeting on December 3, with the meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi. The program has already been endorsed by the Faculty of Science and the Department of Computer Science’s Board of Studies. Approval and Launch Plans

The AI degree program proposal is currently under review, and if approved by the Academic Council, admissions for the program will be opened for the next academic session. State-of-the-Art Infrastructure to Support the Program

In line with the new AI program, the Department of Computer Science is enhancing its infrastructure by setting up two interactive smart classrooms. These classrooms are nearing completion and are expected to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education, facilitating technical workshops, and enhancing the learning experience for students. These smart classrooms will feature advanced technology to support the program’s hands-on and interactive learning approach.

Current Academic Offerings at KU

The Department of Computer Science at UoK already offers well-established four-year BS programs in Software Engineering and Computer Science. The introduction of the AI program is a step toward expanding KU’s offerings in cutting-edge technological fields, aiming to keep pace with the growing demand for AI professionals in the workforce.
