Thousands Students Submit Recheck Applications to Lahore Board
Following a high failure rate in the Class Nine exams, the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has received a flood of online applications from students requesting rechecks. The results, released yesterday, have sparked concern among students and parents alike.
According to reports, out of the 287,000 candidates who took the exams this year, 150,000 students failed. This has led to thousands of students submitting recheck applications, hoping for a review of their exam papers. Among the subjects, the History of Pakistan paper recorded the highest failure rate, with only 12.5 percent of students passing. This alarming statistic has been a major driver behind the surge in recheck requests.
Other subjects also showed disappointing results, with Islamic History having a pass rate of just 45 percent. General Math saw 58 percent of students passing, while General Science had a slightly better pass rate of 60 percent. Chemistry and Mathematics fared a bit better, with 62 percent and 63 percent of students passing, respectively. In Civics, the pass rate stood at 66 percent, and Physics saw 69 percent of students passing.
Given the significant number of failures, students are eager to have their papers rechecked. The deadline for submitting recheck applications is August 24, and the fee for the process is Rs. 1400. Students must deposit this fee in the bank and upload their application online. The Lahore Board will notify candidates via SMS about the rechecking process.
Zahid Mian, the Lahore Board’s Controller of Examinations, stated that out of the 287,000 candidates, over 127,000 students passed, while 159,000 students did not clear the exams, indicating a challenging year for many.
As the recheck applications continue to pour in, students and their families remain hopeful for a favorable outcome, seeking justice in the re-evaluation of their exam results.
