ICT-PEIRA Final Deadline for Mandatory 10% Free Education Quota

ICT-PEIRA Final Deadline for Mandatory 10% Free Education Quota

The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority ICT-PEIRA has issued a stern directive to all private educational institutions within the Islamabad Capital Territory, mandating strict compliance with the PIERA 10% free education scholarship policy. Following widespread concerns regarding administrative delays, the Authority has granted a final deadline of June 30, 2026, for schools to submit comprehensive data regarding their scholarship beneficiaries. This move aims to enforce the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2012, ensuring that deserving students—particularly orphans and children of martyrs—gain equitable access to quality learning.

Strengthening Oversight and Accountability

In a proactive effort to eliminate non-compliance, ICT-PEIRA has made the submission of scholarship data a prerequisite for all private school registration and renewal services. Institutions in Pakistan that fail to meet the end-of-month deadline will face immediate regulatory consequences, including the suspension of operational certificates and potential legal action under the ICT-PEIRA Act, 2013. By linking administrative status to social responsibility, the Authority is effectively transitioning from advisory notices to rigorous enforcement, ensuring that educational equity in Islamabad is not merely a policy goal but an operational standard.

Prioritizing Inclusive Educational Access

The initiative is a cornerstone of the broader "No Child Left Behind" campaign, which seeks to integrate out-of-school children into the formal private schooling system. To ensure transparency, the Authority has established a dedicated monitoring committee tasked with verifying student enrollment and school infrastructure data. Moving forward, the names of non-compliant institutions will be publicly listed as defaulters and reported to relevant examining boards. Through this structured approach, ICT-PEIRA is safeguarding the educational rights of underprivileged children while recognizing and rewarding institutions that demonstrate genuine commitment to the PIERA national education agenda. By fostering a culture of compliance, the government aims to bridge the socioeconomic divide and provide a secure academic future for the most vulnerable segments of society.
