Google Pays Tribute to Renowned Artist Anna Molka Ahmed

Google is the largest search engine, which has paid the tribute to the well known artist, Anna Molka Ahmed. She was born in 13 August 1917 in London and she founded the Punjab University, College of Art and Design. She enrolled herself in Royal College of Arts, London at the very young age as she was committed to become an artist and she got married there, then she shifted to Lahore and led her life there.



She was the first female artist of the country and she educated the students to learn the art. She established the Fine Arts department in University of the Punjab. When you click on the doodle of the Google, she will read the message. She remained the college principal from 1940 to 1975, which is about 35 years and she was fostering the culture of arts education in Pakistan. She organized many exhibitions all over the country and she continued painting to show her expression with the combination of the European influences and with the adopting country. She was also awarded with the Medal of Excellence, which is one of the highest civil awards for citizens of Pakistan. Punjab University has named the art gallery, Anna Molka Art Gallery.
