Federal Board Matric & Inter Practical Exams Exciting Changes

Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education FBISE is gearing up for a groundbreaking change in the way practical exams are conducted for matric and intermediate students. This change, set to take effect next year, aims to make practical exams more effective and engaging. The teachers, students and academic staff should note Federal Board Matric & Inter Practical Exams Exciting Changes.

Farewell to Notebooks and Viva Voce:

In a bold move, the FBISE plans to bid farewell to practical notebooks and viva voce in the Secondary School Certificate SSC and Higher Secondary School Certificate HSSC examinations. The matric exams are on the horizon in April, followed by the intermediate exams in May 2024.

Practical-Based Assessment Takes Center Stage:

Under the new policy, students will face a practical-based assessment exam, replacing the traditional elements of notebooks and viva voce. This fresh approach aims to provide a more hands-on and dynamic evaluation experience.

Structured Questions Stepping In:

A recent notification from the FBISE on November 13 outlined the changes, revealing that instead of notebooks and viva voce, students will tackle structured questions. The marks previously allocated for practical notebooks and viva voce will now find a new home in the answers to these structured questions, written on provided answer sheets.

Chairman Addresses Concerns:

FBISE Chairman Qaiser Alam acknowledged past concerns, including reports of students obtaining solved practical notebooks from markets. He assured that the new policy, emphasizing passing practical-based assessment exams, is designed to tackle these issues and encourage genuine practical work.

Backed by Inter-Board Coordination Commission IBCC:

The policy change received support from the Inter-Board Coordination Commission IBCC, a collective organization of national boards. A recent resolution from the IBCC encouraged boards to enhance their practical exam systems. Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director IBCC, commended the FBISE for its initiative and expressed hope for similar positive changes across other boards.
