Young British-Pakistani Sets Four World Records
At just 18, Mahnoor Cheema, a British-Pakistani student, has made history by completing 24 A-Level subjects with top distinctions, earning her four new world records. Combined with her earlier success in GCSE exams, Mahnoor now holds six global academic records, the highest ever attained by a secondary school student. Breaking Multiple Records
Mahnoor’s record-breaking list includes completing the most A-Level subjects with distinction 24 subjects plus an EPQ through one exam board, without repeating any components. She also set the record for the highest number of A* and A grades in A-Levels**, achieving 19 top marks. In addition, her combined results of 11 A* grades in A-Levels and 34 A* grades in GCSEs/O Levels** give her a total of 45 — the most A* grades ever earned by a student globally. Her fourth record highlights her success in passing the highest number of individual subjects with distinction, totaling 58 across A-Levels and GCSEs.
Achievements at a Young Age
By the age of 16, Mahnoor had already passed 34 GCSE subjects, including 17 A* grades in Year 10, which secured her earlier world records. Now, at 18, she continues to build on that remarkable foundation.
A Dream Fulfilled at Oxford
Speaking from her home in Langley, West London, Mahnoor expressed her excitement about joining Oxford this October. She called her admission “a dream come true” and credited her parents, Barrister Usman Cheema and Tayyaba Cheema, for their constant support and sacrifices.

Beyond Academics: A Talented All-Rounder
Her accomplishments go beyond academics. Mahnoor holds an AMusTCL diploma in music equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, won gold medals in Acting and Public Speaking from LAMDA, and completed her EPQ in only 10 days with a perfect score. As a member of Mensa, she is recognized not only for her academic brilliance but also for her wide-ranging talents and intellectual abilities.
