University of London Strengthens Education in Pakistan from Classrooms to AI

University of London is expanding its more than 30-year partnership with Pakistan through two major initiatives: a philanthropic teacher training programme for K-12 educators nationwide and the introduction of a new BSc in Artificial Intelligence to meet rising global demand for AI skills. These initiatives build on the recent launch of a bespoke law micro-credential designed for Pakistani students entering the legal profession. New Initiatives Support Teachers, AI Degrees, and Legal Education

The teacher training programme, developed in collaboration with the Punjab Ministry of Education and the Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority PECTAA, offers continuing professional development to teachers in both public and private schools. Over 12 months, participants will engage in three professional development sessions focused on reflective teaching, curriculum design, and classroom management, drawing on the University of London’s internationally recognized teaching expertise.

In 2026, the University will also launch a BSc Artificial Intelligence degree in partnership with Brunel University London. This programme will be accessible through the University’s network of Recognized Teaching Centers across Pakistan, enabling students to study cutting-edge AI courses locally. The degree aims to prepare graduates for careers in sectors such as healthcare, finance, education, and technology, where AI skills are increasingly in demand.

Additionally, the University has introduced a tailored micro-credential for its LLB students in Pakistan, focusing on Pakistani law. This online programme, which can be taken alongside the LLB degree, covers constitutional law, civil and criminal codes, the Pakistan Penal Code, and rules of evidence, supporting students as they prepare for the Pakistani Bar. It is the first foreign law programme designed specifically for Pakistani legal students.

As a pioneer in transnational education in Pakistan, the University of London has maintained one of the country’s longest-standing international academic partnerships. Over the past three decades, more than 16,000 Pakistani students have graduated from the University, including nearly 8,000 law graduates who now serve across the legal profession, civil service, business, and public life. Currently, over 7,000 students are enrolled in Pakistan, either studying independently or through one of the University’s 17 Recognized Teaching Centers in 38 locations.

Professor Phil Allmendinger, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Partnerships, highlighted the University’s commitment: “Pakistan has been a valued partner for more than 30 years. These initiatives reflect our dedication to enhancing education at multiple levels—from teacher development to advanced AI programmes and legal education tailored for Pakistani students. Our alumni community of over 16,000 graduates demonstrates the lasting impact of this partnership, and we are proud to support the next generation of leaders and professionals.”

A University of London delegation is currently visiting Pakistan, engaging with government officials, education leaders, alumni, and its network of Recognized Teaching Centers. The visit underscores the University’s dedication to strengthening its long-standing partnerships and deepening its engagement with local communities.
