UHS Expands Medical Training with 7 Certificate Programs

University of Health Sciences Lahore has approved the launch of seven new certificate programs aimed at improving medical education, enhancing clinical abilities, and addressing skill gaps in the healthcare sector. The decision was taken during the 225^th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore. UHS Introduces Skill-Based Courses to Strengthen Healthcare Education

These newly introduced certificate courses are designed to strengthen research skills, improve laboratory practices, and support modern medical training based on evidence-based healthcare. The university’s goal is to prepare students and professionals who can meet current challenges in medicine, research, and scientific communication.

Focus on Practical Skills and Specialized Medical Training

One of the key programs includes a Certificate in Quality Management for Clinical Laboratories and Blood Banking. This course focuses on improving accuracy, safety, and standard procedures in diagnostic laboratories and transfusion services, which are essential for patient care.

Along with laboratory-related training, several courses will cover areas such as research methodology, clinical epidemiology, biostatistics, and evidence-based medicine. These programs are structured to provide practical learning experiences that can be applied directly in healthcare settings.

Opportunities for MBBS and Allied Health Students

The certificate programs are open to students and professionals from multiple disciplines, including MBBS, BDS, nursing, and allied health sciences. For medical students, especially those pursuing MBBS, the courses are intended to complement clinical training with additional skills in research, data interpretation, and medical ethics.
