UBC PhD Botany Scholarship Canada CAD 40000 Grants 2026

Pakistani researchers seeking fully funded international doctoral opportunities can now secure substantial financial support through the University of British Columbia. The UBC PhD Botany Scholarship Canada 2026 program offers admitted Doctor of Philosophy candidates guaranteed minimum annual funding of CAD 40,000 for four consecutive years, bringing total institutional support to CAD 160,000, with online applications accepted until January 10, 2027.

This major funding milestone removes financial barriers for talented plant science, genetics, and ecology graduates across Pakistan. Pursuing higher education in North America often involves heavy tuition charges and living expenses. By providing a baseline financial package alongside internal departmental tuition awards, the university allows doctoral candidates to focus entirely on groundbreaking biological research without facing overwhelming personal debt.

Research Architecture of UBC Botany Doctoral Grants

Offered through the Faculty of Science on the Vancouver campus, the PhD in Botany covers cutting-edge fields including plant molecular biology, ecological systems, evolutionary genetics, and environmental science. Under policy guidelines enacted in September 2026, all full-time doctoral researchers receive a guaranteed annual baseline stipend of CAD 40,000 during their first four years. Recent institutional data reveals that supported botany candidates earned a median annual gross funding of CAD 42,665 through combined university awards, research assistantships, and teaching stipends.

To address international student tuition fees, which stand at approximately CAD 10,081.65 per year, the Department of Botany maintains a dedicated PhD Tuition Award policy. Under this arrangement, departmental graduate funds cover tuition costs for eligible students whose fees are not covered by external sources. Additionally, qualifying international scholars receive automated consideration for the International Tuition Award worth up to CAD 3,200 annually.

Academic Eligibility and UBC Botany PhD Admission Criteria 2026

Language proficiency standards require an overall IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with component scores no lower than 6.0, a Duolingo English Test score of 125, or an accepted TOEFL iBT score meeting departmental criteria.
