Students Approach Sindh High Court Over MDCAT 2026 Question Paper and Answer Key

Ten candidates who appeared in the MDCAT 2026 examination have approached the Sindh High Court SHC, seeking the release of the original question paper and official answer keys.
The students have requested the court to direct the relevant authorities to make the examination paper and answer keys available to candidates. They have also asked the court to halt the preparation of the final merit list and the medical college admission process until the matter is addressed.
The petition was filed through Advocate Muhammad Nawaz Dahri. Six parties have been named as respondents in the case, including the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC, Sukkur IBA University, and Jinnah Sindh Medical University JSMU.
Students Seek Release of MDCAT 2026 Question Paper
According to the petition, the students want the authorities to upload the complete MDCAT 2026 question paper along with the official answer keys within three days.
The candidates say access to the original question paper is necessary for them to properly review their performance. They also want to compare the questions with the official answer keys and identify any answers that they believe may be incorrect.
The issue has become important because candidates merit positions can depend on a small difference in marks. Even a few marks may affect a students position in the merit list and, consequently, their chances of securing admission to a medical college.
Candidates Were Given Carbon Copies of Answer Sheets
The MDCAT 2026 examination was conducted on September 20. After the examination, candidates were provided with carbon copies of their answer sheets.
However, according to the petition, students were not permitted to take the question paper with them after completing the examination.
Some candidates reportedly requested copies of the question paper from examination staff, but their requests were not accepted.
The students have now approached the Sindh High Court, arguing that without access to the original questions, they cannot properly verify the official answer keys or determine whether any answer requires an objection.
Why Students Want the Original Paper
Candidates generally need both the question paper and answer key to independently check their responses.
A carbon copy of an answer sheet can show which options a candidate marked, but it does not provide the complete context of the questions. According to the petitioners, this makes it difficult for candidates to assess whether the official answer key accurately reflects the questions asked in the examination.
The students therefore want the authorities to publish the complete paper so that candidates can review each question and compare it with the official key.
Petition Seeks Stay on Merit List and Admissions
The petitioners have also requested the Sindh High Court to stop the final merit list and medical college admission process until the question paper and answer keys are made public.
Their position is that the merit process should not be finalised while candidates are unable to properly examine the questions and challenge potentially incorrect answers.
Advocate Muhammad Nawaz Dahri, who filed the petition on behalf of the students, has argued that even a minor difference in marks can have a significant impact on a candidates merit position.
For students competing for limited medical college seats, an increase or decrease of only a few marks could potentially affect their admission prospects.
Six Parties Named in the Case
Six parties have been named in the petition. Among the respondents are the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, Sukkur IBA University and Jinnah Sindh Medical University.
The students have asked the court to direct the concerned authorities to release the MDCAT 2026 question paper and answer keys and address their concerns before moving ahead with the final merit and admission process.
MDCAT 2026 Transparency Issue
The case highlights candidates concerns about transparency in the MDCAT examination process.
Making the question paper and answer keys available would allow candidates to independently review their attempted answers and identify any questions or answers that they believe require clarification.
For students seeking admission to medical colleges, access to these documents is particularly important because the final merit position is closely linked to examination marks.
At this stage, the students requests are before the Sindh High Court. Any further direction from the court or the concerned authorities will determine how the MDCAT 2026 merit and admission process proceeds in relation to the issues raised in the petition.
