Sndh Allocates Rs 232 Million for MDCAT Retake
Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has approved a budget of Rs. 232.1 million to facilitate the re-conduction of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test MDCAT in Sukkur, as announced on Wednesday. Commitment to Exam Transparency
In a recent Sindh Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the impact of exam paper leaks, noting that they harm both institutional reputations and students’ academic prospects. "I am committed to ensuring transparency in all examinations, including MDCAT," he stated.
History of MDCAT in Sindh
The cabinet was briefed that since the academic year 2017-18, MDCAT exams have been held annually across Sindh, with testing sites established in Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana. Following a recent incident involving a leaked MDCAT paper, the case has been referred to the High Court for further action.
IBA Karachi Declines Further Involvement
Following the controversy, the Institute of Business Administration IBA Karachi has opted to withdraw from administering the MDCAT. As a result, IBA Sukkur will assume full responsibility for organizing and conducting the retake of the exam.
Timeline for Revised MDCAT
The newly scheduled MDCAT is expected to take place within the next six weeks, providing students with an opportunity to participate in a secure and transparent exams process.
