Karachi Education Alert: Summer Vacations and New Academic Session Dates Confirmed
The Sindh Education and Literacy Department has officially finalized the summer vacation schedule for all private and public sector schools and colleges in Karachi. Following a high-level Steering Committee meeting chaired by Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah, the provincial government has released the comprehensive academic calendar for 2026-27.
According to the notification, summer vacations in Karachi will commence from June 1, 2026, and continue until July 31, 2026. Educational institutions across the metropolis will reopen on August 1, 2026. This decision aims to provide relief to students during the peak heatwave months typically experienced in the coastal city.
New Academic Session and Admissions
For parents looking for school admissions in Karachi, the window for classes up to Grade 9 will remain open from March 1 to March 31, 2026. The new academic year is set to begin on April 1, 2026. In a significant move to reduce student stress, the committee approved the automatic promotion of students from Class 1 to Class 3 without formal examinations.
Exam and Result Schedule
The "Result Portal" updates for Karachi students are as follows:
- Class 9 & 10 Exams: March 30 – April 15, 2026.
- Matric Class 10 Result Date: June 1, 2026.
- Class 9 Result Date: June 15, 2026.
- Inter Class 12 Result Date: June 15, 2026.
College students in Karachi should note that admissions for Class 11 will be conducted under the Central Admission Policy CAP throughout June and July. With the summer break dates now locked, students are advised to complete their projects before the holidays begin.
