Sindh Orders Province-Wide Audit of Govt College Facilities

The Sindh government has launched a province-wide audit of facilities and equipment in public colleges following reports of missing furniture, computers, and laboratory equipment in several institutions.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Sindh Secretary for College Education Nadeemur Rehman Memon, where officials reviewed supplies purchased for government colleges during the 2021–2025 financial years.

During the meeting, all principals of government colleges were directed to physically inspect the furniture, computer systems, and laboratory equipment provided to their institutions. They have also been instructed to submit official verification certificates confirming the availability of these items within the specified deadline.

The College Education Department has taken serious notice of the reported shortages. Secretary Memon ordered notices to be issued to former drawing and disbursing officers as well as the contractors involved in the procurement process. He further directed authorities to initiate legal proceedings against any individuals found responsible for negligence or misappropriation.

In addition to the audit, the meeting approved the development of a comprehensive digital database covering the infrastructure, available facilities, and future requirements of every government college across Sindh. Officials have been tasked with collecting and submitting the required information within the prescribed timeframe to assist in planning future development projects and improving the quality of higher education institutions across the province.

The latest initiative aims to strengthen transparency, improve accountability, and ensure that government-funded educational resources are properly utilized for the benefit of students.
