Sindh Govt Orders Temporary Closure of Educational Institutions
The Government of Sindh has announced the temporary closure of all educational institutions throughout the province as part of efforts to conserve fuel and manage energy resources. According to the decision, schools, colleges, and universities across Sindh will remain closed from March 16 to March 31. This step has been taken following discussions and approval by the Sindh cabinet, which is implementing a series of austerity measures aimed at reducing energy consumption. Province Implements Fuel-Saving Measures While Continuing Exams and Online Learning
Despite the closure of campuses, the authorities have clarified that academic assessments will continue without interruption. Examinations that were already scheduled during this period will be conducted according to the previously announced timetable. This arrangement ensures that students’ academic progress and evaluation processes are not delayed due to the temporary shutdown of institutions.
In order to maintain continuity in the learning process, the provincial government has also directed educational institutions to continue necessary classes through online platforms. By shifting teaching activities to virtual modes, schools, colleges, and universities will be able to carry on with their academic programs even while their physical campuses remain closed.
The decision forms part of a broader strategy adopted by the provincial government to support nationwide efforts to address the ongoing energy challenges. Along with the closure of educational institutions, the Sindh cabinet has also approved reductions in the salaries and certain privileges of provincial ministers. This move has been taken in line with similar austerity measures introduced by the federal government to help cope with the energy crisis and promote responsible use of national resources.
Through these measures, the Sindh government aims to balance the need for energy conservation with the importance of continuing educational and administrative activities across the province.
