Sindh Govt Launches Eye Screening for Schoolchildren
Sindh Education Department has rolled out an extensive eye screening program targeting students in government schools across the province. This move addresses increasing worries about the negative impact of mobile phone usage on children’s eyesight. Implementation and Support
A formal order has been issued to all district education offices, directing school principals to fully cooperate with the screening efforts. Additionally, a No Objection Certificate NOC has been granted to an authorized NGO responsible for conducting the free eye examinations.
Free Eye Care for Students
Under this program, students in every district will receive complimentary eye checkups. Those identified with vision impairments will be provided prescription glasses at no charge.

Dr. Fouzia Khan, Chief Advisor of the Curriculum Wing, emphasized the importance of the initiative, warning that mobile phone use is increasingly harming children’s vision. She urged school authorities to support the campaign to prevent long-term eye damage.
Importance of Early Detection
Specialists highlight that vision problems such as myopia and hyperopia often remain undiagnosed, particularly in underserved areas with limited access to eye care. Untreated vision issues can adversely affect a child’s learning and everyday activities. Health experts advocate for mandatory vision screenings at school enrollment to catch and treat these problems early.
