Sindh Governor Launches Free Breakfast Program for Schoolchildren




On Wednesday, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori announced a groundbreaking initiative to provide free breakfast to students in government schools across the province, as reported by ARY News. The students and teachers will note the latest updates that Sindh Governor Launches Free Breakfast Program for Schoolchildren.


Launch and Goals of the Initiative

During a ceremony in Karachi, Governor Tessori unveiled the “Governor’s Initiative for Free Breakfast for Students.” This program aims to ensure that all children attending government schools receive a nutritious breakfast.


Addressing Nutritional Deficiencies

Governor Tessori highlighted a survey showing that due to poverty and inflation, many children in Sindh skip breakfast, with some not having had milk for two years and others missing out on eggs for six months. This initiative aims to address these nutritional gaps.


Phased Implementation


  • The program will initially launch in 100 government schools.

  • It will gradually expand to other schools throughout the province.

  • A dedicated website will be set up for schools to register for the program.


Support and Expansion

Governor Tessori expressed gratitude to MQM-P Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Bashir Farooqui, Chairman of Saylani Welfare Trust, for their support. He noted that the Governor’s House is continually introducing new initiatives, including IT and security service classes.


Educational Impact and Support

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui stressed the urgent need to improve education in Pakistan, where 25 to 30 million children are currently out of school. He emphasized that:


  • 60% of Pakistan’s population consists of youth or children.

  • 55 million children are enrolled in schools.

  • Including the 30 million out-of-school children could significantly improve the educational system.


Siddiqui thanked Governor Tessori for backing the federal government’s educational emergency initiative in Sindh. He emphasized that providing breakfast to underprivileged children would:


  • Alleviate their burden.

  • Reduce poverty.

  • Boost school attendance
