Sindh Bans Non Educational Use of Private School Premises 2026

The Sindh Education Department has enforced a strict ban on the commercial and residential use of private school buildings, strengthening regulatory control throughout the province. This step has been taken to ensure that school premises are dedicated solely to academic activities. The students can get the fresh updates of Sindh Prohibits Non-Educational Use of Private School Premises.

Private School Buildings to Be Used Exclusively for Education
According to officials, private educational institutions are no longer permitted to use their buildings for purposes other than education. The establishment of shops, offices, or living spaces within school compounds has been declared a clear violation of existing laws.

The department has also begun comprehensive inspections of private schools across Sindh. Schools have been instructed to submit valid structural safety certificates, while those operating from dangerous or deteriorating buildings have been ordered to vacate immediately to prevent potential hazards.

Authorities have warned that failure to comply with these directives may lead to suspension or cancellation of school registrations. Institutions involved in unauthorized, non-academic activities may face sealing, and in the event of any accident on school grounds, full legal responsibility will lie with the school management.

Previously, the Sindh government had also issued strict fire safety instructions for private schools. The Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions emphasized the need for complete adherence to fire safety regulations.

Under the updated rules, private schools must install fire alarms, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers. Emergency exits and stairways must remain unobstructed at all times, and regular checks of electrical systems and other high-risk areas are mandatory. In addition, fire evacuation plans must be clearly displayed within school buildings.

These measures have been introduced to improve student safety, strengthen accountability, and ensure effective enforcement of education sector regulations across Sindh.
