Senate Reviews MDCAT Complaints & Calls for Transparency

The Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services has expressed serious concern over the growing number of complaints related to the Medical and Dental College Admission Test MDCAT 2026. During a recent meeting, lawmakers reviewed issues surrounding the Exams schedule, test arrangements, and student grievances. According to officials, nearly 135,000 candidates are expected to appear in the upcoming PMDC Medical college admission MDCAT test, which will be conducted in 36 Exams centres, including 35 cities across Pakistan and one international centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Committee Raises Questions on Fairness and Academic Preparation
Members of the Senate committee highlighted concerns received from students and parents regarding the Exams process. The committee noted that around 1,000 complaints had been submitted, with candidates raising issues related to the exam schedule and differences between FSc and A-Level curricula. Lawmakers also questioned the increasing dependence on private MDCAT preparation academies, where students often pay substantial coaching fees to improve their chances of securing admission to medical and dental colleges.
PMDC Explains Exams Arrangements
Officials from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC informed the committee that the MDCAT 2026 will continue to be conducted on a single day nationwide to maintain uniformity and transparency. They stated that previous Exams had received comparatively fewer complaints and emphasized that the Exams system is designed to ensure equal opportunities for all applicants. Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal also acknowledged that while every Exams system can be improved, students with genuine concerns should present their issues directly to the PMDC for review.
Focus on Transparent Medical Admissions
The Senate committee also reviewed the timing of the MDCAT Exams in relation to FSc and A-Level final Exams. PMDC officials explained that the final board Exams conclude several weeks before the entry test, allowing candidates sufficient preparation time. The discussion reflects the governments continued focus on improving the medical college admission process, enhancing transparency, and ensuring that the PMDC MBBS MDCAT admission policy remains fair and accessible for aspiring medical students across Pakistan.
