Schools Shut Down in another KP District Due to Severe Weather
In a recent notification, the Deputy Commissioner of Upper Dir has declared the closure of educational institutions in the district. This decision comes in response to the adverse weather conditions affecting the region. Reasons for Closure
The closure is attributed to the heavy rainfall and snowfall experienced across Upper Dir, leading to the blockage of roads and pathways. Consequently, commuting for students on Monday has become significantly challenging.
Duration of Closure
As per the notification, all government and private schools will remain closed until Friday, March 8, 2024. This measure is taken in consideration of the extreme weather conditions and the obstructed accessibility due to heavy snowfall.
Continuation of Closure in Other Regions
Prior to this, the education department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had already announced the closure of educational institutions in Swat from March 1 to March 9. Similarly, the caretaker government of Balochistan recently decided to extend the closure of schools across the province for a week, citing the extensive damage caused by heavy rains in various areas.
