Scholarship Program Empowers Students Near Karot Hyower Project
Karot Power Company Limited KPCL, operator of the 720 MW Karot Hyower Project, has teamed up with Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST to launch a scholarship program aimed at supporting underprivileged students. Scholarships for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students
The initiative will benefit both undergraduate and postgraduate students, with priority given to those residing in communities close to the Karot project. Under this program, KPCL will provide annual financial assistance for up to 10 students, covering tuition fees and other academic-related expenses for eligible candidates. University officials highlighted that the scholarships are designed to make higher education more accessible to local students.
Part of KPCL’s Community Development Efforts
This scholarship program is a continuation of KPCL’s broader community development initiatives in the Karot project area. The company has previously contributed to local health services, technical training centers, clean drinking water projects, and infrastructure improvements.
Supporting Education and Regional Development
The Karot Hyower Project is a key energy initiative under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC and plays an important role in Pakistan’s clean energy production. MUST, located in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, is a public sector university renowned for its focus on science, engineering, and technology education.
