A significant mistake has been spotted in the First Year Chemistry textbook issued by the Punjab Curriculum, Training, and Assessment Authority PECTA, where an image of India’s Red Fort has been incorrectly labeled as Lahore’s historic Shahi Qila. Textbook Blunder Sparks Backlash Over Historical Inaccuracy
The photograph is placed in a chapter discussing environmental pollution and how smog affects heritage sites. However, instead of portraying the iconic Lahore Fort, the textbook mistakenly features Delhi’s Red Fort.
This error, found in a book being used in government schools throughout Punjab, has triggered strong reactions from historians and educationists, who criticized the oversight as both careless and culturally insensitive.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has responded to the matter by initiating a formal inquiry. He assured the public that corrective measures will be implemented following the outcome of the investigation.
