Quetta Cantt Schools & Colleges Closed Over Security Concerns
Educational institutions in Quetta Cantonment have been temporarily closed following a fresh security advisory issued by local authorities. The shutdown—which affects all schools and colleges within the garrison limits—will remain in effect from November 12 to November 16, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
According to the administration, the decision was taken as a precautionary step to safeguard students, teachers, and staff following new security assessments. Entry and movement inside the cantonment have also been placed under stricter monitoring.
The closure comes at a time when the provincial government has enforced a complete suspension of mobile data and internet services across rural districts of Balochistan from November 10 to 16, with only Quetta city exempted from the ban.
Despite the exemption, several residents from different neighborhoods of Quetta reported partial service disruptions. Officials said intermittent outages could occur as part of ongoing security procedures and urged residents to stay informed and follow official advisories.
Authorities will review the situation again before reopening institutions on November 17.
